Updated : Apr 9, 2026

It seems the massive box office success of Ranveer Singh’s latest spy thriller, Dhurandhar The Revenge, has brought an equal amount of legal headaches for director Aditya Dhar. Released on March 19, the film is currently caught in a heavy crossfire between a script plagiarism dispute and a major music copyright suit.

On the script front, Dhar just secured a significant interim relief from the Bombay High Court. Filmmaker Santosh Kumar had been publicly alleging that the film’s core story was copied from his 2023 registered script, D Saheb. Fighting back against the damage to his professional reputation, Dhar’s legal team successfully convinced the court to restrain Kumar from making unverified public statements until the next hearing on April 16.

However, just as the B62 Studios and Jio Studios team got breathing room there, veteran production house Trimurti Films slapped them with a copyright infringement suit. Trimurti claims the makers unauthorizedly used the iconic 1989 track Rang De Lal from Tridev.

They are now actively seeking an injunction and damages to halt the commercial exploitation of the song across theatres and streaming platforms. The makers are certainly looking at a long legal road ahead as they navigate both the script and music controversies to keep their blockbuster's run smooth.
